Career Tech

GlenOak High School offers one of the county's largest selections of Career Tech and Tech Programs.  Career Education offers students a vast number of opportunities to experience early career choices.

Plain Local provides eighteen career choice pathways. Many of our programs allow students the opportunity to earn college credit and credentials while in high school. Our personalized career pathways prepare students for continued education at a two-year college, four-year college, workforce entrance, or the military.

Career Technical Education provides:

  • A pathway (sequence of courses) within your area of career interest.

  • A connection of your career interests from high school to college and/or career.

  • An educational road map guiding you to the high school courses and post-secondary options most relevant to your chosen career destination.

  • The depth of knowledge and skills linked with a specific Career Tech program may lead you to a credential.

Pipeline to Possibilities at GlenOak High School

In the Winter of 2025, GlenOak High School launched Pipeline to Possibilities, a new initiative designed to connect students with local unions and contractors and introduce them to careers in the skilled trades. Throughout December, January and February, partners representing fields such as carpentry, electrical work, plumbing and pipefitting, HVAC, labor, operating, sheet metal, and ironwork will be on campus during lunch from 10:35 am to 12:35 pm. Students are encouraged to stop by the commons to meet with representatives, ask questions, and learn how training and career pathways in these fields work.

Students should watch StudentSquare and SchoolLinks for updates, schedules, and opportunities for more in-depth conversations with our visiting partners. These connections help students explore real career options available right here in our community.

If a local business or trade organization would like to join this experience, email gohsct@plainlocal.org
