GlenOak Teacher Earns National Recognition for Excellence in French Honor Society Leadership

The American Association of Teachers of French (AATF) has announced that Julie Fillez Werren, French teacher at GlenOak High School, has earned Bronze Level Recognition in the 2025 Sponsor Recognition Program for Honor Society Sponsors.

This national honor is awarded to sponsors who go above and beyond the standard requirements to maintain an active Société Honoraire de Français (French Honor Society) chapter. To qualify, recipients must fulfill several criteria, including:

  • Maintaining active AATF membership for at least three consecutive years,

  • Inducting new students at least twice every three years,

  • Submitting an annual chapter report.

The AATF established the Sponsor Recognition Program in 2022, with the first year of eligibility being 2025. Out of more than 1,600 active honor society charters, fewer than 100 sponsors earned Bronze Level status in this inaugural year, making this a truly notable achievement.

Madame Fillez’s leadership and dedication have inspired countless students to embrace the French language and Francophone cultures. Each year, she organizes the French Honor Society induction ceremony, celebrating students’ academic excellence and commitment to world language learning.

We are proud to celebrate Madame Fillez’s accomplishment and grateful for the passion she brings to the GlenOak community. Her commitment exemplifies GlenOak’s mission to foster global citizens through academic excellence and cultural understanding.

Félicitations, Madame Fillez, and thank you for all you do!
