GlenOak Eagle Scout

GlenOak Eagle Scout

GlenOak High School senior Maddie Harris has officially earned the rank of Eagle Scout, becoming the first female in school history to achieve the honor. A third-generation Eagle Scout, Maddie follows in the footsteps of her father, Josh Harris (GOHS Class of 1996), and grandfather, Jack Harris.

To earn the rank, Maddie designed and led a community service project that now benefits students at Kids First/TOPS in Summit County, a school serving children with autism. Her project included building and installing large outdoor chalkboards and custom wooden steps to ensure students of all sizes could safely reach them. Those steps are now doing double duty: the school’s physical therapist is using them as part of therapy sessions to support students’ balance and coordination development.

Plain Local is proud to celebrate Maddie’s historic achievement and commitment to community service. She’s a true example of what it means to soar.
